Today I found myself asking, "Where does the time go?" I think that most of the time it has wings because it just flies by especially as I get older. Just yesterday we were celebrating the arrival of 2014! Today one third of the year is officially gone and in the past. We cannot get that time back. Have we been productive? Have we spent quality time with our spouse, our children, and our extended families? Have we made wise choices with our finances? Have we learned something new each day? Have we been of service to others? Have we taken care of ourselves - physically, spiritually, emotionally and mentally? Are we preparing for the future? Are we spending too much time worrying about things we can't always change? Are we looking forward with faith? Are we accomplishing the goals that we set at the beginning of the year? Are we developing our talents? Can we look in the mirror each night and honestly say, "I've done my best today"?
All of these questions can be pondered individually and in some cases, we can assist those close to us as they gain time management skills for themselves. If there is room for improvement in what you do with your time each day, you are the only one who can decide what those areas are; only you can make the choice to improve or change. We don't always see where we can improve until the time is past. I know that I am progressing and moving forward, but there are days when I go to bed exhausted because I've worked harder than smarter. There are days when I could have done better. Every once in a while I feel that for every step forward I take two steps back. I believe that if will we take the time to evaluate where our time is going and how we could better spend it each day we will be blessed with the ability to do so. We need to use wisdom in our decisions and choose the best over the good and the better.
